Nai Nam Communal House Festival 2026

   Tucked between the shophouses of Hoa Cuong stands a communal house older than the modern city around it, and once a year the yard in front of it fills with the whole ward. This year's edition carries the theme «Hon thieng Nai Nam – Khat vong Hoa Cuong» and marks 121 years since the building went up.

   What happens across the two days:

• — 14 August — the opening, plus contests in fruit-and-cake tray arrangement, betel-leaf folding, and the «Tinh hoa My Quang Da Nang 2026» cooking competition;
• — 14 August, 15:00–17:30 — the Le Vong memorial rite at the communal house and the martyrs' cemetery, with My Quang cooked in the open alongside it;
• — 14 August, evening — a community arts contest and an ao dai presentation;
• — 15 August, 07:30–09:30 — the main Le Chanh te rite and the official opening: a welcome performance, a documentary about the building, offerings, the ceremonial drum, a lion dance and signal fireworks;
• — 15 August, 09:30–11:30 — folk games (tug of war, stick pushing, sack races, pot smashing), a My Quang tasting and the prize-giving.

   The building itself rewards an early arrival: Nai Nam was built in 1905 and listed as a national architectural and artistic heritage site on 4 January 1999. This is a working place of worship rather than a stage set, so dress as you would for a temple.

   For the ritual side, come on the morning of 15 August. For food and the noise of a village festival, the late afternoon and evening of 14 August is when the yard is fullest. It is about fifteen minutes south of the Han River bridges.

   Free, unticketed and genuinely local — the kind of thing that never makes it onto a tour itinerary.
