Stand-up show «Nha Trang Comedy: David Alfie Ward»

   English-language stand-up in Nha Trang has been silent for close to half a year, and the night that breaks the pause belongs to a British comic seen on ITV and BBC Radio 4. If you have not laughed out loud among strangers in a while, the coast has a reason for it again.

   The headliner is David Alfie Ward, an award-winning comedian from London whose credits include ITV, BBC Radio 4, talkSPORT and TNT Sports. His delivery is fast storytelling, live crowd work and East London humour, and he has warmed up rooms for Michelle Wolf, Jamali Maddix and Darren Harriott.

   The verdicts on him are consistent. Metro calls him cheeky, self-deprecating and effortlessly likeable. Michelle Wolf describes a naturally funny comic with real charisma, Jamali Maddix puts it as funny and fearless, and Darren Harriott says David's hilarious, warm, quick and brilliant.

   The title of the night, Te Be Honest..., is a pun: it carries the everyday English to be honest and the name of Tê Bê, the bar whose room becomes the stage. The poster adds a line under it, English Stand Up Comedy Live in Nha Trang.

   The show is produced by Nha Trang Comedy, run by Simmone P. It is the first outing after almost six months off, so this is not a standing weekly fixture but a single evening. Beyond the headliner, no other names have been announced for the line-up.

   It suits expats and visitors who want comedy in English without flying home, and Vietnamese audiences curious to hear British delivery in a small room where the crowd is louder than the microphone.

   Seating is unreserved and first come, first served, so arriving early is the only way to choose where you sit. Doors open an hour before the show. The spread in price is simply the gap between booking ahead and paying at the door, and the advance rate closes the day before.

   The show runs in English; the organiser has announced no translation and no subtitles.
