About the event

Songs written specially about this province will be heard in public for the first time, right beside the landmark that stands for the seaside city. The award night of the new-song competition about Khánh Hòa closes almost half a year of work by composers from across the country, and the part that matters most to an audience is the concert performing the winning entries.

The competition was launched by the Khánh Hòa provincial people's committee under a plan issued on 9 July 2026, on the theme «Khánh Hòa vững bước tiến vào thập niên nâng tầm phát triển» - Khánh Hòa stepping firmly into a decade of growth. It is open nationwide: Vietnamese citizens as well as foreigners living, studying or working in Vietnam may enter. Submissions close on 30 September 2026.

The rules set a few conditions worth knowing:
Entries must be original works that have not won any other competition
An author or group may submit several pieces but receives prize money for only the highest award
Organisers encourage the use of folk material from the province's ethnic minority communities
They also encourage new thinking in musical structure, lyrics and performance

The brief is broad: the ambition to turn Khánh Hòa into a centrally governed city, traditional cultural and historical values, the beauty of the land, its people, its monuments and landscapes. Whatever is named a winner that night will be one more way of telling the story of this province - and this is the first time an audience hears it.

The evening is part of the provincial programme marking Vietnam Culture Day 2026, coordinated by the provincial department of culture, sports and tourism. The same season brings exhibitions at the provincial museum, heritage showcases at the Pô Nagar and Pô Klong Garai towers, a film week and a reading festival; on the day of the ceremony, locally managed historical and cultural sites open free of charge.

The night suits residents who want to hear their city set to new melodies, anyone who follows Vietnamese songwriting, and travellers who like watching a place introduce itself through art rather than through brochures. You will hear songs nobody has heard before.

A province writing music about itself is worth hearing in person. See you at the foot of the tower.
