Opening ceremony «Đại hội Thể dục thể thao thành phố Huế» (Hue City Sports Games)

   The opening of a city-wide sports games is one of the few occasions when several thousand people move in unison on a single field — delegation parades, mass drill, the torch. It is an event that reads completely differently in person than on a screen.

   The ceremony takes place on 20 September 2026 as part of the autumn block of Festival Huế 2026, led by the city Department of Culture and Sports. The city's original plan had it in May; the organisers later moved it into September so it sits inside the festival season.

   It arrives at the end of a dense sporting summer here: from 15 July through August, Hue ran the fourth Hue Sports Festival with 19 separate events and an expected 15,000-plus attendances of athletes and supporters.

   Locals, families with children in sports clubs and visitors curious about genuine civic ritual will all find something here. Language is not a barrier — it is almost entirely visual.
