MusicalAn evening of Vietnamese lyrical song in the courtyard of a restored palace inside the imperial citadel of Hue, the night after the autumn full moon. Live music happens inside Đại Nội only a handful of times a year, and it sounds nothing like a concert hall.
The stage goes up in the courtyard of Điện Kiến Trung, the palace emperor Khải Định built in 1921–1923; by 1947 it had been destroyed down to its foundations and balustrade, and it reopened to visitors in 2024 after five years of reconstruction. The evening belongs to the «Huế vào thu» autumn block of Festival Huế 2026, staged by the festival organising committee together with the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre (Trung tâm Bảo tồn Di tích Cố đô Huế).
The singer is Nguyễn Đình Tuấn Dũng, a warm low voice with a restrained delivery, well known to audiences for older Vietnamese repertoire and ballads. He has unfinished business with Hue: in June 2026 the Hue International Music Week night he was billed for was called off after a squall brought the stage down. The organisers frame this concert as that missed appointment finally kept.
The programme takes its name from «Nhìn những mùa thu đi», one of the best-loved autumn songs by Trịnh Công Sơn. No set list has been published, and the city event calendar still lists the same evening under its earlier title, «Gửi gió cho mây ngàn bay» — it is worth searching under both names.
It suits anyone drawn to Vietnamese lyrical song, couples, and travellers who would rather hear a voice inside a heritage site than in a lounge bar. The songs are in Vietnamese, but the pull of the evening is in the melodies and the setting. If you are in Hue at the end of September, hold the slot in advance.
