Exhibition «Di sản vàng son – Tinh hoa hội tụ» (Gilded Heritage: Treasures Reunited)

#exhibition#Nguyen dynasty#antiques#phap lam enamel#Long An Palace#Hue Royal Antiquities Museum

About the event

Most of these Nguyen-dynasty objects have spent decades in private cabinets. For three months they are back inside Long An Palace — arguably the finest surviving wooden palace of the old capital — and open to anyone with a museum ticket.

The show brings together more than 100 objects and sets lent by 23 collectors, most of them rarely shown in public. Materials run from gold and silver to phap lam painted enamel, tri-metal bronze, court textiles, ceramics and carved wood.

It is arranged in four sections, each a different slice of court life:

  • — Quyền uy triều đại (Authority of the dynasty)
  • — Nghi lễ và trật tự cung đình (Ritual and court order)
  • — Tinh hoa thủ công và mỹ thuật (Craft and fine art)
  • — Vàng son còn mãi (Gilding that lasts)

On opening day, 10 July 2026, the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre received donations on the spot: a phap lam dish, a royal edict from the Thành Thái reign with its wooden case, and a set of Duy Tân-era memorials concerning repairs to Nguyen buildings — paper material of a kind that seldom surfaces at all.

The museum sits inside the citadel complex, a short walk from the Imperial City gates, so it slots naturally into a Dai Noi morning. Your ticket stays valid for two days, which means you can come back rather than rush.

If you are in Hue before 9 October and have any interest in how an empire furnished itself, this is the exhibition to give an hour to.
