Culture and ArtsAn installation that unfolds in darkness, asking you to slow down, feel your way and pay attention: artist Dang Duy Minh (Đặng Duy Minh) opens his studio in Hue to present "Ống Bễ" (The Bellows), the result of a three-month residency with AirHue.
The work is introduced with an epigraph from Chapter 5 of the Tao Te Ching: the space between heaven and earth is like a bellows, empty yet never exhausted, the more it moves, the more comes out. The installation is the fruit of three months of observing, researching, collecting and experimenting, a scene of strange objects that invite questions.
"They are reticent in their stance. Fragile forms gently reach upward, carrying discarded objects that have washed ashore from who knows where," writes curator Nguyen Minh Ngoc (Nguyễn Minh Ngọc) in the curatorial note.
Dang Duy Minh graduated in Glass and Ceramics from the University of Sunderland in the UK. He often uses glass to turn fixed forms back into something uncertain, setting hollow against full and soft against hard. During three months in Hue he wanted to create a space to face objects that no longer belong anywhere.
AirHue's 2026 residency is supported by its strategic partner Goethe-Institut Hanoi. It runs from 15 July to 15 October 2026 for Vietnamese artists and cultural practitioners living and working from Hue northwards.
The open studio is for anyone interested in installation art, glass as a material and the contemporary art scene in Hue.
The opening is on Friday 9 October; the studio stays open until 15 October.
An evening in Kim Son to step into the darkness of "Ống Bễ" and find your own questions.
