Party «Luu Bar 7 Year Anniversary»

   One of Saigon's most durable electronic music bars turns seven and celebrates across two consecutive nights, each with its own line-up. Entry is free on both evenings, which makes this the easiest outing of the month.

   The programme splits cleanly in two:

• — Friday opens with Levisng, DJ Ouch!, Gỏi Cuốn and Erika Perales — a stacked bill meant to set the tone for the whole weekend;
• — Saturday keeps it going with Yasmin, MLiR, Tommysarng and Tim, playing through the night to close the celebration.

   Both evenings are free to enter, which is unusual for an anniversary: the bar chose to open the door wide rather than sell event tickets. Seven years is also long enough that most music rooms in the neighbourhood have closed and reopened under a different name in the meantime.

   What stands out is that every one of these names belongs to the bar's own community. This is not a party built around a flown-in star but a summing up by the people who have held the booth here all year. Seven years is a long run for an underground music bar in Saigon, and the line-up is the short version of that run.

   Luu Bar sits on Phạm Viết Chánh and keeps its own schedule through most of the week: an open-decks night for DJs of any level, an after-work session earlier in the week and club sets at the weekend. These two evenings take the place of that usual routine.

   The occasion suits the bar's regulars, anyone following the Saigon electronic scene, and equally anyone who has never been but wants to understand why this room has lasted.
