ASEAN Hyundai Cup 2026 semi-final, second leg: Vietnam vs Malaysia

   This is the match that settles who reaches the final, and it is being played in Hanoi. Vietnam, the defending champion, hosts Malaysia in the second leg of the ASEAN Hyundai Cup semi-final, and you will hear My Dinh long before you reach it.

   In brief:

• — the first leg is played in Malaysia on 16 August; this is the return fixture;
• — the away-goals rule does not apply in the knockout stage, so the aggregate score decides everything;
• — Vietnam won Group A, Malaysia finished second in Group B;
• — the other semi-final is Singapore against Thailand, on 15 and 18 August;
• — the final is also played over two legs in late August.

   For a visitor this is the cheapest ticket into something Vietnamese crowds do better than almost anyone: a full stadium moving as one, drums from the stands, the streets outside turning red hours before kick-off. The ground sits in Tu Liem, about half an hour west of the Old Quarter, and the approach roads tighten up badly on match nights — leave early.

   What to know about tickets: they were sold online only, through the Techcombank OneU app, in two waves — the first from 8 to 11 August, the second opening at 14:00 on 13 August. Both are sold out: the first wave covered all four price bands, the second offered three (the top band was dropped) and was gone the same day. The federation opened no counter sale, at the ground or anywhere else, and has announced no plans for one; tickets already bought are collected in person at Vietnam Post points in Hanoi on 18 and 19 August. Without a ticket in hand, this one is watched on a screen.

   If you do have a ticket, go. It will be the loudest night Hanoi has this month.
