Board game night «Game Night with German Board Games»

   In Germany an evening around a board game is an ordinary way for families and friends to spend time together, and newcomers are often surprised by how seriously it is taken. The Goethe library is opening one such evening in the middle of Ba Đình, so you can see for yourself how far a game can bring strangers together.

   On the tables you will find Die Siedler von CATAN (The Settlers of CATAN), Halli Galli, Jenga, Klask and The Crew — from long strategy games to quick-reaction rounds that take a couple of minutes each. German teachers from the institute will be sitting at the tables so you can pick up and practise basic German words while you play.

   What the evening includes:
A shelf of board games brought from Germany, for beginners and regular players alike
German teachers on hand at the tables
Languages used: Vietnamese and German
Places are limited and participation is by prior registration

   It suits people learning German, families with children who want a screen-free activity to share, and anyone who likes board games but has not found a group to play with. No German is needed beforehand — the rules are explained at the table.

   The event takes place in the library of the Goethe-Institut Hanoi, inside the institute's grounds on Nguyễn Thái Học, close to the Ba Đình area and the museums around it.
