Mid-Autumn programme «Trăng à, trăng ơi» (Oh Moon, Dear Moon)

   The full moon of the eighth lunar month belongs to children in Vietnam, and in 2026 it falls exactly on the night of this show. A Hanoi theatre hands its main stage over to that evening: moonlight, familiar characters and stories told through music rather than through a lesson, indoors and with a seat for every member of the family.

   The programme was built by Nhà hát Tuổi Trẻ for the 2026 Mid-Autumn season. In the theatre's own words, the stage, the moonlight and the children's stories are meant to turn the full-moon night into a cultural experience: the children play, watch a performance and touch traditional values through music and a stage language pitched at their age.

   Worth knowing before you book:

• — doors open one hour before curtain, which is enough time to settle small children
• — the hall is divided into three seating blocks, A, B and C
• — prices are not shown on the listing page — the figure appears once you choose a seat on the plan
• — tickets went on sale on 18 August, well before the festival itself

   This suits families with young children, and equally adults who want a Mid-Autumn night of the old kind — star lanterns, lion dancing, the tray of fruit set out to watch the moon, and the two figures every Vietnamese child knows, the Moon Lady Chị Hằng and Chú Cuội under his banyan tree. Unlike the street festivities, everything here happens on a stage and follows a single running order, so nobody gets lost in a crowd and parents watch beside their children rather than behind them.

   It is also one of the rare late slots the theatre gives to a young audience: the programme starts in the evening, as the moon comes up, instead of the afternoon slot most children's shows take in the September schedule.

   The programme is performed in Vietnamese. Most of it travels through music, light and stage imagery, so even the youngest in the room keep up.
