Film screening «Tái sinh» (En Corps)

   A ballet dancer at the top of her career loses everything to one injury and has to learn how to live inside her own body again. This two-hour French film tells that story through absorbing contemporary dance, in a small screening room deep in an alley off Tây Sơn.

   It is directed by Cédric Klapisch and stars Marion Barbeau, Pio Marmaï, François Civil and Denis Podalydès, and it comes as part of the French film programme presented by the Institut français du Vietnam. Élise has to give up her ballet career after a serious injury; from Paris to Brittany she looks for a new meaning through fresh encounters and through contemporary dance.

   The film is for people who love dance and the stage, for anyone who has had to start over after a rupture, and for viewers who enjoy French drama built around sharply drawn characters. Marion Barbeau is a professional dancer, so the dance sequences are filmed whole rather than stitched together.

   White Light Cinéhub sits on the third floor of COMPLEX 01, a cultural complex rebuilt from an old factory in alley 167 off Tây Sơn, in Đống Đa district, a short ride southwest of the Old Quarter. The room is small and the atmosphere is closer to friends watching together than to a commercial cinema.
