Culture and ArtsSeven found-footage video essays — cut from film classics, archival materials, silent cinema, vlogs, travelogues and state-sponsored productions — offer a different way of looking at Asian landscapes and memory: personal history overwriting state narrative, land speaking through its own scars.
The anthology was commissioned by the Asian Film Archive (Singapore) for «Monographs 2023: sinking, shifting, stirring». The screening on 15 August (19:00–21:00) runs simultaneously at 282 Workshop in Hanoi's Long Biên area and Ném Space in Ho Chi Minh City; the next afternoon, 16 August (15:00–16:30), an online Zoom discussion brings in curator Natalie Khoo.
The programme is presented by Á Space, Hanoi's experimental art space, alongside Trương Công Tùng's solo presentation there (27 July – 16 August).
If you care about documentary form, video art or how Southeast Asia remembers its changing environment, this two-part programme is worth your weekend. Please register in advance to attend: Register
