«Thang Long — Hanoi Festival», second edition

   Ten days of programming spread across five of the capital's heritage spaces, under the theme «Heritage Flow». The organising idea is that heritage is not stored behind glass but runs through the working life of the city.

   The venues were picked to represent different sediment layers of Hanoi:

   Thang Long Imperial Citadel — the royal capital layer
Temple of Literature — the scholarly layer
Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square — the street layer
Hanoi Museum — the collecting layer
Bat Trang pottery village — the craft layer

   This is the second edition, run by the Hanoi People's Committee through the Department of Culture and Sports, with domestic and international partners taking part.

   For residents it is a chance to enter familiar places on different terms; for visitors, those five sites strung together amount to a readable route through the city's history rather than a checklist of sights.
