Mid-Autumn Festival 2026 at Trung tâm Triển lãm văn hóa nghệ thuật Việt Nam

About the event

Over the full-moon weekend the grounds at 2 Hoa Lư in Hà Nội turn into a compact Mid-Autumn festival for children: decorated scenes and a moon-viewing tray, star lanterns, revolving lanterns, lion heads, tò he dough figures and papier-mâché masks, plus craft tables where children make their own toys. The organisers have announced neither tickets nor an entry fee.

The programme runs by day. At 19:00 on 23 September comes the stage programme «Trăng à - trăng ơi». 24 September opens at 8:30 with a meet-the-artists session titled «Trung thu cho em»; from 17:30 to 19:00 there is «Vui đón trăng rằm» together with an award ceremony for high-achieving pupils; and from 18:30 to 21:00 the «Lễ hội Trăng rằm» brings a parade, lion dancing, a lantern procession and a concert. Toy-making, mooncake-making and craft workshops run in three slots on 24 September: 8:30-11:00, 14:30-17:00 and 19:00-21:00.

The festival is directed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and produced by the Vietnamese exhibition centre for culture and arts.

   Worth knowing about:

  • — A room devoted to the traditional Mid-Autumn of Thanh Hóa province, with local handicrafts.
  • — The children's art show «Dưới ánh trăng xanh», drawn from the 2026 city-wide children's art and fashion design contest run by the Hà Nội Children's Palace.
  • — A second children's art show, «Ước mơ xanh», produced by the Teen Art studio.
  • — Workshops: traditional Mid-Autumn toys, mooncakes, pottery, bamboo and rattan weaving, hand embroidery, tò he modelling, coconut-leaf folding, postcards.
  • — Folk games, movement activities, chess and Rubik's cube.

The busiest moment is the evening of 24 September, when the parade and the lantern procession loop through the grounds and end with the shared moon feast.

It is built for children and families, but adults have something to do too: the craft tables work for both ages, and the two picture shows take about half an hour to walk through. If your child has never glued a star lantern together, this is the tidiest chance of the year.

Full-moon night usually scatters Hanoi's children across the streets; here the whole holiday sits inside one walkable compound.
