Charity run «Road To Give Đà Nẵng 2026»

   At first light, Non Nước beach in Da Nang turns into a race course: five kilometres of sand along the waterline, from one beach resort to the next, in running shoes or barefoot. Everything you pay for your race kit goes into the Road To Give charity fund to help people in need in the local community.

   Road To Give is Marriott International's annual charity sports series; the organisers call this the 12th season of Road To Give in Da Nang, run by the group's hotels in the city under the motto «One Race, One Community, One Heart».

   At a glance:

• — a 5 km course, all of it on sand along the beach;
• — three categories, men, women and children, with prizes for the top three in each;
• — 14 prizes in total from seven Marriott International hotels in Da Nang and Hoi An, including hotel stays, dining vouchers worth up to 3,000,000 VND, spa vouchers for two, a lucky draw, a Best Costume Award and Photo of the Day;
• — finishers receive a wooden medal, 6.5 cm across, on a satin ribbon.

   Last year's race also ran between these two hotels. According to VTV, more than 1,100 people took part, and the 332 million VND raised was pledged to Operation Smile, which provides free surgery for children with facial deformities, SOS Children's Village Quảng Nam and two schools in Da Nang. This year more than 730 runners had signed up by 8 September, before the race had to be postponed.

   You don't need to be a serious runner, the organisers stress: the race is meant for families with children as much as for office teams and running clubs starting together. If you like dressing up, aim for the Best Costume Award, a one-night stay with breakfast for two at Renaissance Danang Hoi An Resort & Spa, if you run the whole course in costume.

   The entry fee depends on the package, and medals go only to those who finish within the time limit:

• — Package 1, 400,000 VND: bag, cap, running T-shirt, race bib and finisher medal;
• — Package 2, 300,000 VND: T-shirt, bib and medal;
• — children's package for under-12s, 150,000 VND: T-shirt, bib and medal; children must run with an adult.

   The race was originally set for 12 September but was postponed the day before, with heavy rain and a possible storm in the forecast. Existing registrations, race kits and entitlements remain valid, and registration stays open until the new race date.

   Start and finish are in different places: the finish is at Danang Marriott Resort & Spa, with drinks, a light breakfast and the award ceremony, and the water and electrolyte station sits at the resort's Non Nuoc Beach Villas. For the original date the organisers announced a one-hour cut-off and a free shuttle bus back to the start hotel; the schedule for the new date is due on their page.

   Five kilometres of early-morning sand, breakfast at the finish and money that stays in Da Nang to help people there: that is worth setting an early alarm.
