Party «WAWAWA»

   Nha Trang closes out a long summer with a night of techno and house that runs until morning. The REDALERT crew is throwing its first fully techno and house party, and it states the terms up front: no EDM, no melodic techno.

   What comes instead is the deeper, more soulful side of both genres — groove-driven, dubby, jazzy and picked specifically for a dancefloor. The line-up gathers five DJs from five different places:

• — JUN OKUI from Shimane, Japan, whose sets have carried a love for house music since the late eighties;
• — Dub Sager, introduced as the philosopher of beats, making his REDALERT debut;
• — IDUKAY, a Russian selector moving freely across genres, also playing the series for the first time;
• — ALAN RITCHIE from the UK, a familiar face of the crew;
• — ZHIVACO, the REDALERT founder, closing the night with a jazzy, dubby house set.

   Before this night REDALERT was known for its Red Memories events, held early last year, which makes this their first party built entirely around techno and house. If the words in the announcement mean little to you: groove means records chosen for their sway rather than for a drop, dub means long tails of echo and reverb, and jazzy means softer chords slipping between machine rhythms. Together they make a night you can listen to for hours without ear fatigue.

   The room is Zone 86, a space tucked into a lane off the seafront stretch of Trần Phú. For listeners in Nha Trang this is not a frequent occasion: most late-night music in the beach city still belongs to tourist stages, while here the floor is built around record selection.

   Women get free entry before midnight, so coming early makes sense if you are out with a group. The night suits people already fluent in techno as much as anyone who simply wants an evening with no predictable hits in it.
