Techno night «Beyond Techno» at Saga Da Nang

   A Saturday night in Da Nang can run until sunrise: on Saturdays the Da Nang Underground collective takes over Saga, a bar on An Thượng walking street, for a techno night with international DJs and sets the organisers design to keep you moving «from the first track until sunrise». If you are after underground electronic music in Da Nang rather than chart hits, start with this series.

   Saga calls Beyond Techno one of its flagship events: each night of the week here is curated by a different promoter with its own musical direction, and Saturday belongs to Da Nang Underground. Expect melodic house, melodic techno and peak time techno, with international touring artists on the line-up on a regular basis. The organisers pitch the series as the place where you hear first where the underground is heading: fresh sounds, the latest releases and the ever-changing energy of modern techno. The motto of the nights: «Create Moments with Da Nang Underground».

   The series has a core crew:
— iMessenger, founder of Da Nang Underground
— Atala (UK), who has opened and closed these nights many times and stepped up as headliner with a three-hour set in September
— Dalena (USA), billed as a local favourite

   Line-ups change from night to night: guest DJs join the core crew, such as Anahi, who played a birthday set at the end of September.

   It is a night for techno lovers ready to dance until morning, for travellers who want to see Da Nang's underground club scene, and for DJs passing through town who want to meet the local underground community: Saga openly welcomes them.

   According to the city guide Digital Da Nang, Da Nang Underground is an underground electronic music collective and event organiser active since 2019. Saga is a techno bar in the heart of An Thượng walking street, a few minutes from My Khe Beach (Mỹ Khê); the main room runs a Funktion-One sound system, and above the stage hangs a painting of a cat, the bar's emblem.

   Entry is free before 23:30; after that it is 150,000 VND at the door, including one drink.

   Beyond Techno runs on Saturdays from 22:00 until 04:00 or later, but not every week: some Saturdays Saga hands over to other nights. On 5 September and 3 October, for example, the slot went to «My Culture», a five-hour set by iMessenger. In September the series took three Saturdays out of four.
