Culture and ArtsFor three days in late August a village upriver from Hoi An on the Thu Bồn opens its orchards at exactly the right moment: pomelo, mangosteen, durian, jackfruit and banana picked off the tree, a country market, folk kitchens working in the open and the sung calls of bài chòi carrying across the yards. If you have been looking for a weekend with no schedule, this is it.
This year's theme is «Đại Bình – Điểm đến Xanh», «Dai Binh — a Green Destination». The village sits inside a bend of the Thu Bồn, ringed by fruit gardens that stay green all year, with old houses, living hedges and lanes under a canopy of trees. Vietnamese visitors have long called it a miệt vườn — the orchard country of the southern delta, transplanted to the centre.
Across the three days the programme spreads through the whole village:
It works for families who want children to see a real orchard rather than a supermarket shelf, for groups who would rather pitch a tent by the river than book a resort, and for anyone who needs two days without a plan.
This is not a first edition: the festival ran in previous years, with the 2024 one held on 23–25 August. The 2026 edition carries extra weight — these orchards spent the past year recovering from the floods of late 2025.
Come for the fruit and stay for the river. You will drive back slower than you came.
