Highland fair «Chợ phiên Tak Pổ» («Tak Pổ Market Fair»)

About the event

Trà Tập, a commune up in the mountains in the south of Đà Nẵng, is running its own market fair for the first time, and it is doing it at Tak Pổ — a village high enough that at first light the clouds close into a sea below it, which is how it earned its local name, the cloud-hunting village.

The fair is tied to the first international Ngọc Linh ginseng festival, so the stalls carry what these slopes actually grow: Ngọc Linh ginseng, medicinal herbs, wild forest honey, clean farm produce, and goods certified under the OCOP local-product scheme.

The cultural half belongs to the Xơ Đăng (Ca Dong) community — gong ensembles, cồng chiêng, and Ting Tin folk songs sung by the villagers themselves.

Food is highland food, cooked from what grows on the hillside fields, and the people running the stalls will talk you through how the community lives and what its customs mean. That part is not for sale anywhere.

It is worth building a longer trip around it: the Lai Xát waterfall is close by, there are places to camp, and the sunrise over the sea of clouds is what photographers come up here for in the first place.
